University of Kentucky EH&S TRAINING CLASSES The University
requires safety training classes to be completed before beginning certain
types of work. These requirements apply to all individuals involved in
the covered work, including faculty, staff, students, postdocs, visiting
researchers, and volunteers. To find out what classes you need to take,

Checklist.
Supervisors are responsible for ensuring that everyone under their supervision has completed the required training. The classes below are grouped under their respective EH&S departments. Unless otherwise noted, preregistration is not necessary. Attention supervisors: Available now is the ability to search our training records to see if your staff and/or students have taken the necessary courses. Note: Anyone who works with chemicals in a laboratory must complete the following three classes: Chemical Hygiene Plan/Laboratory Safety, Hazardous Waste, and Fire Extinguisher Use. Online
courses can only be taken on UK's campus.
Occupational Health & Safety ·Chemical Hygiene Plan/Laboratory Safety The class will be held in the Keeneland Room of the William T. Young Library.

Pathogens This
class is available upon request and online.
This class must be taken on an annual basis. ·Other classes are available upon request: Contact Lee Poore at (859)257-2924 to preregister. Environmental Management·Hazardous Waste The class will be held in the Young Gallery in WT Young Library.
You can satisfy the training requirement by taking this class online. ·DOT/IATA The class will be held in the EQMC Building. Class size is limited and preregistration is required. Call Peggy Quisenberry at 323-6280 or email at pquisenb@email.uky.edu to register.
Radiation Safety·Initial Radiation Safety Initial Radiation Safety ( ~ 15 minutes total) is offered every day at 1:30 p.m. at the Radiation Safety Office, 102 Animal Pathology Building (other times can be arranged). You must bring two completed forms with you: On-Site Radiation Safety Training Form and Radiation Worker Registration Form, both signed by your Authorized User or unit supervisor. If you have any questions, contact Radiation Safety at (859) 323-6777. ·Basic Radiation Safety The class will be held in the Health Sciences Learning Center (HSLC) on the following dates. Preregistration is required for this class. You may register by contacting Radiation Safety at (859) 323-6777.
