ELECTRICAL POLICY
The
following Policy has been established to provide guidelines for
the use of extension cords.
- Extension
cords (flexible cords) shall not be used as permanent wiring.
- Only
Underwriters Laboratory (UL) listed surge protectors that are grounded
and have a built-in 15 amp circuit may be used.
- The
supply cord must be plugged directly into a wall outlet and may not
be longer than 6' feet.
- The
cord must not be run under carpet, through walls, under doors, or
be subject to any physical damage.
- Any
alterations to electrical systems must be submitted to the University
Fire Marshal for pre-approval and qualified persons must perform the
work in compliance with the current edition of the National Electric
Code. A compliance inspection by a state certified inspector may be
required.
