The following Policy has been established to provide guidelines for the location of vending machines. The Policy is applicable for existing vending machines. The fire marshal must review and approve all locations.

1. can not be located within a stairwell,
2. can not be located beneath a "communicating stairwell" without approval of the Fire Marshal,
3. can not be located within an exit corridor without the approval of the Fire Marshal,
4. unit must be connected directly to a wall outlet,
5. extension cords are not permitted in any situation,
6. verification must be obtained from the appropriate PPD to ensure the electrical circuit will not be overloaded,
7. unit must meet accessibility standards,
8. must not create a general safety hazard,
9. must not obstruct a sprinkler system, and
10. must have approval of the department(s) in the adjacent area.
